Attorney General Employment Introduction

The Michigan Department of Attorney General employs approximately 500 persons in a wide variety of professional, clerical, and technical positions.

As classified state employees, our staff enjoys excellent fringe benefits and a common dedication to providing high quality legal representation on behalf of our client agencies, the Executive, Judiciary and Legislative branches of government, and the citizens of our state.

Office hiring policy is according to the Michigan Civil Service Commission Rules and Regulations and, where applicable, collective bargaining agreement.

Current vacancies are posted on the Civil Service website. Applicants may also register to receive email notification of future job postings in specific job categories.

Note: Civil Service Rule 1-7 requires that all persons newly hired into state government positions submit and pass a pre-employment drug test prior to their actual appointment to the classified service. Additionally, our department conducts a pre-employment background check.
