Organizations Related to Aging Drivers

AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety
The AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety was founded in 1947 by AAA to conduct research to address growing highway safety issues. The organization's mission is to identify traffic safety problems, foster research that seeks solutions, and disseminate information and educational materials.

Alzheimer's Association
The Alzheimer's Association is the leading voluntary health organization in Alzheimer's care, support and research. The Alzheimer's Association works on global, national and local levels to enhance care and support for all those affected by Alzheimer's and other dementias.

American Association for Retired Persons (AARP)
AARP is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization that helps people age 50 and older improve the quality of their lives.

American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators (AAMVA)
The AAMVA is a nonprofit organization developing model programs in motor vehicle administration, law enforcement and highway safety. The association also serves as an information clearinghouse in these areas, and acts as the international spokesman for these interests.

American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA)
AOTA's major programs and activities are directed toward assuring the quality of occupational therapy services, improving consumer access to health care services, and promoting the professional development of members.

American Society on Aging (ASA)
ASA supports the commitment and enhances the knowledge and skills of those who seek to improve the quality of life of older adults and their families. Membership includes professionals who are concerned with the physical, emotional, social, economic and spiritual aspects of aging.

Association for Driver Rehabilitation Specialists (ADED)
The Association for Driver Rehabilitation Specialists supports professionals working in the field of driver education/driver training and transportation equipment modifications for persons with disabilities through education and information dissemination.

Governors Highway Safety Association (GHSA)
GHSA represents the state highway safety offices that implement programs to address behavioral highway safety issues. GHSA provides leadership and advocacy for the states and territories to improve traffic safety, influence national policy, enhance program management and promote best practices.

National Association of Area Agencies on Aging (n4a)
The (n4a) is a 501(c)(3) membership association representing America's national network of 623 Area Agencies on Aging (AAAs) and providing a voice in the nation's capital for the 256 Title VI Native American aging programs.

National Aging and Disability Transportation Center (NADTC)
The NADTC promotes the availability and accessibility of transportation options that serve the needs of people with disabilities, older adults, and caregivers, focuses on leveraging the Federal Transit Administration's Enhanced Mobility of Seniors and Individuals with Disabilities (Section 5310) formula grants and other transit investments.

National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHSTA)
NHTSA was established by the Highway Safety Act of 1970 and is dedicated to achieving the highest standards of excellence in motor vehicle and highway safety, including aging drivers. NHTSA works daily to help prevent crashes and their attendant costs, both human and financial.

National Institute on Aging(NIA)

The NIA is part of the US Department of Health & Human Services. They support and conduct research on aging, including older drivers, and disseminate information and advances in research to the public.

National Safety Council (NSC)
The National Safety Council saves lives by preventing injuries and deaths at work, in homes and communities, and on the roads through leadership, research, education and advocacy.
