    The State of Michigan is serious about investing in the next generation of Michiganders. When we prioritize the education of our children, we ensure that they are prepared and have the resources needed to succeed in the Michigan workforce. 

    The state of Michigan funds K-12 education with the School Aid Fund. Governor Whitmer's fiscal year 2020 Executive Budget Recommendation would increase the K-12 foundation allowance by $235 million, create an additional weighted foundation allowance to fund students who are typically more expensive to educate, and provide a 3 percent increase to universities and community colleges.
