Wastewater and Water Treatment Plants Program - Closed

The Michigan Energy Office (MEO) is offering a technical assistance grant to work with wastewater and water facilities to optimize pumps, motors, blowers, process controllers, flow monitors, etc. using material developed through DOE’s wastewater and water infrastructure accelerator program. The MEO hopes to share resources and lessons learned from DOE’s wastewater and water infrastructure accelerator program which developed strategic energy plans for these facilities. 

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Be a small business (<500 employees) or nonprofit organization within Michigan,

Funding Amount:

A maximum of $50,000 is available for this program.  All applicants must provide a minimum 200 percent (2:1) match of the total requested grant funds.

Objectives:

The objectives of the Wastewater and Water Treatment Plant Program, this RFP, and projects funded hereunder are: 

  1. Provide technical assistance to help wastewater/water facilities optimize pumps, motors, blowers, process controllers, flow monitors, etc. using material developed through the DOE’s wastewater and water infrastructure accelerator program.
  2. Demonstrate best-practice/cutting edge approaches and tools toward a sustainable wastewater infrastructure and yield road-tested examples for other facilities.

Reporting Obligations:

  • Meetings (in-person and/or by phone) with grant manager as needed.
  • Monthly reports, at a minimum.
  • Any developed templates, presentations, informational flyers, etc.
  • Financial status reports supported by invoices, supporting documentation, and a narrative report (no less than quarterly).
  • Final report on grant outcomes and impact, addressing any potential benefits and cost savings resulting from the project.
