Coding can start as soon as you arrive at one of our Code Michigan locations. Sign in is at 5 p.m. on Oct. 3. You will be allowed to come and go as needed.
Coders will submit their apps, descriptions, and videos by 10 a.m. on Oct. 5.
The Opening Ceremony will begin at 5:45 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 3, and will end at 6:15 p.m. Coders are encouraged to meet and greet but are not required to do so.
We will be serving breakfast, lunch and dinner along with regular snacks. Breakfast is scheduled for 8 a.m., lunch at noon, and dinner at 5 p.m. (Dinner will not be served Sunday.)
Overnight coding at the Code Michigan venues WILL be allowed. Each venue will have specific security arrangements to allow access.
Judging for first, second and third prizes starts at 10 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 5 at all locations. Judging starts with the viewing of video presentations. Judges will sit with coders to watch the videos. Judges may ask questions during this time period.
Videos are five (5) minutes long, so we expect to wrap up viewing in three hours, or about 1 p.m.
Judges will get one hour after the video presentations, 1 to 2 p.m., to deliberate and make their decisions. Announcements will NOT be made until 3 p.m.
Grand prize judges will receive the names and video presentations of the three first place winners at 3 p.m. and will have one hour to deliberate and question the regional judges. Regional judges will need to advocate for their region's winner. Grand prize judging will be complete at 4 p.m. on Oct. 5.
Challenge prizes will be announced at 3 p.m. Oct. 5.
Detroit, Marquette and Newaygo prizes will follow from 3 to 4 p.m.
The grand prize recipient will be announced around 4:30 p.m.
