I heard that I can sign up for contact tracing through text messages instead of phone calls. How does that work?

  • When a contact tracer reaches out, they may ask if you are interested in receiving text message reminders to report how you are feeling and what symptoms, if any, you are experiencing. If you opt into this text message service, the contact tracer will confirm your cell/mobile phone number and provide you with additional information. All text message-based contact tracing will come from the code “25051” and will include a link to a secure page where the close contact can report how they are feeling and whether they are experiencing any symptoms.
  • For text message contact tracing, certain terms and conditions may apply.
    1. When you opt into the service, we will verbally confirm your opt-in selection over the phone. This selection will be record in the contact tracing record.
    2. You can cancel the SMS service at any time. Just follow the link in the text message and select the opt-out option.
    3. If at any time you have questions or need help, please call the COVID-19 Hotline at 888-535-6136.
