Will my business be charged for unemployment benefits paid to my employees during COVID-19 emergency?
Generally no. If your employees are unemployed because of Covid-19, Executive Order 2020-24(6) provides that you will not be charged for benefits paid to your employees and the benefits will instead be charged to the Unemployment Insurance Agency's non-chargeable account. Note that employers who have misclassified workers as independent contractors are not eligible to receive this relief from charges. See Executive Order 2020-24(6).
