Lloyd Scharer
Chaplain Coordinator
Chaplain Lloyd Scharer (Chap) here. I am honored to serve the employees of the MDOC as Chaplain Coordinator of the Wellness Unit! I am excited to bring my passion, experience, and education to support the wellness of those who serve and protect the citizens of this great State.
Before joining the Wellness Unit, I served alongside the MDOC’s finest at the Richard A. Handlon Correctional Facility (MTU) as Institutional Chaplain. Prior to joining the MDOC I was Vice President of Enrollment at Great Lakes Christian College in Lansing, Michigan. I currently volunteer as Chaplain and Victims Advocate for the Eaton County Sheriff’s Office (since 2008) and the Delta Township Fire Department (since 2017) as Chaplain and IAFF trained Peer Supporter. I hold a bachelor’s degree in Theology and Christian Ministry and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration. When I am not engaged in the work I enjoy, I love all things family, travel, golfing, and hunting.
