Family Advisory Board

As part of the department’s new family reunification policy, the MDOC operates a voluntary Family Advisory Board that helps foster effective communication between the department and the loved ones of incarcerated individuals.

This group also provides feedback to the department related to opportunities to strengthen efforts for family reunification, effective reentry supports that build stronger families and communities, and other relevant activities within the department.

If you would like to be considered for this advisory board, please complete, and submit an application

Placement on the Family Advisory Board is for a two-year term. Participation on the board is voluntary and is not compensated. Individuals selected for the board are expected to regularly attend board meetings, which may occur during normal business hours. Repeated absences may result in removal from the board. Travel expenses incurred for approved meetings will be eligible for reimbursement subject to state travel recommendations.

Final selections are made by the MDOC and applications must be received by May 1, 2023.
