Some programs offered by Jackson County Local Council, include:

  1. Parenting Classes - Free for families with children aged birth to 5.
  2. Stewards of Children - Child sexual abuse prevention training for adults.
  3. Period of PURPLE Crying - For parents and caregivers of infants to prevent shaken baby syndrome.
  4. Truancy Prevention - Classes and assessmetns for parents and students, a collaboration with the Jackson Family Court.
  5. Informational Fairs and Community Events - Distribute child safety and parent education materials to the Jackson Community.
  6. Annual Professional Trainings - For social workers, teachers, and other professionals.
  7. Mandated reporter trainings - Offered in conjunction with the Department of Human Services - recognizing and reporting suspected maltreatment to Child Protective Services.

Project: The Early Truancy Intervention (ETI) Program, a research-based, home-based program for Jackson County families with elementary school-aged children, grades K-4, who have been referred by their elementary school for absenteeism. The ETI program meets an established need in Jackson County, which has one of the worst abuse and neglect rates in the state.
