Project: The purpose of the Promising Futures Partnership (PFP) is to promote positive relationships and supportive environments that protect youth and promote their optimal development and strengthen families. Community based and family focused, PFP will utilize the internal and external resources needed to thrive and provide a safe, stable, and nurturing home environment. Initially PFP strategies will focus on fostering resilience and the development of social-emotional competence (two of the five protective factors). Developing resilience and social and emotional competence can help family members learn how to manage the everyday challenges of life as well as emotions (chronic or toxic stress, anger, etc.) that might otherwise escalate and lead to child abuse and neglect (and a host of other social ills as well as physical disease).
