Project: The Lenawee Intermediate School District (Lenawee ISD), working in partnership with the Lenawee Great Start Collaborative - Lenawee County Children's Trust Fund Local Council - intends to utilize funding from the Children's Trust Fund to provide preventative programming related to child abuse and neglect through the expansion of services provided by the Lenawee's CHILD Program. Funding will be used to increase family support capacity through the provision of home visitation services with families where child abuse and/or neglect may be more probable based on research supported demographic and other characteristics and/or in cases where the Lenawee ISD receives Child Abuse and Prevention Treatment Act referrals from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services. Utilizing the Parents as Teachers evidence-based intervention model, a trained parent educator will provide direct services to families in their homes eliminating service access barriers while also delivering services in an environment that is familiar and comfortable to the family. Through the provision of these services, participating parents will realize an increase in their knowledge of early childhood development and will improve their own parenting practices. There will also be an increase in the early detection of developmental delays and health issues in children; child abuse and neglect will be prevented; and participating children will experience an increase in school readiness and success.
