DEQ Director Dan WyantCo-Chair: Dan Wyant, Director, Michigan Department of Environmental Quality

Dan Wyant was named Director of the DEQ by Governor Rick Snyder. Dan previously served as president and chief operating officer of the Edward Lowe Foundation, which promotes entrepreneurship and helps second-stage business owners accelerate growth for their companies, a position he held since 2005. Prior to that, he served as director of the Michigan Department of Agriculture under both Governor John Engler and Governor Jennifer Granholm.

Dan also serves on the Board of Directors of the Nature Conservancy, Michigan, and holds a bachelor's degree in food systems management from Michigan State University and an MBA from American University in Washington, D.C.

Attorney General Bill SchuetteCo-Chair: Bill Schuette, Attorney General, State of Michigan

Bill Schuette was elected as Michigan’s 53rd Attorney General in November 2010 and took office Jan. 1, 2011.  Schuette has extensive experience in both federal and state government and has served Michigan in the executive, legislative and judicial branches of government.  Bill Schuette’s commitment to public service began when he was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives.  At the age of 31, he was one of the youngest Congressmen in America. 

Following his terms in Congress, Schuette was Michigan’s Republican candidate for the United States Senate.  He served as Director of the Michigan Department of Agriculture under then Governor John Engler.  Bill Schuette was a member of the Michigan Senate for eight years, representing Michigan’s 35th Senate District.  He was also elected to the Michigan Court of Appeals and served for six years as one of 28 appellate judges in Michigan.  Upon his departure from the bench, Schuette joined the law firm of Warner, Norcross & Judd as Senior Counsel. 

A native of Midland, Michigan, Bill Schuette graduated cum laude from Georgetown University, receiving a bachelor of science in foreign service.  He also studied at the University of Aberdeen in Scotland. Schuette earned his law degree from the University of San Francisco.

MPSC Chair John QuakenbushJohn Quackenbush, Chair, Michigan Public Service Commission

John D. Quackenbush was appointed by Governor Rick Snyder to serve as Chairman of the Michigan Public Service Commission on Sept. 15, 2011. His term ends July 2, 2017.

Prior to his appointment, Chairman Quackenbush worked for UBS Global Asset Management for 10 years, most recently as managing director and senior investment analyst responsible for equity research for the transportation, utilities and coal industries in the U.S. and Canada. He previously worked as manager of the Sprint Corporation Treasury department and Sprint Corporation Local Telecom Division. Before that, he served in several senior financial analyst roles with the Illinois Commerce Commission.

DNR Director Keith CreaghKeith Creagh, Director, Michigan Department of Natural Resources

Keith Creagh brings a vast amount of experience and love of the outdoors to his position as director of the Michigan Department of Natural Resources. He has a robust background in policy development, strategic planning and relationship building and avidly pursues his lifelong interests in outdoor recreation, such as hunting, fishing, camping, and hiking.

Prior to his appointment July 9, 2012, by Governor Rick Snyder, Creagh had been serving as director of the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development since Jan. 1, 2011. Creagh has a bachelor of science degree in forestry from Michigan Technological University, and continues to collaborate with Michigan's universities and colleges on a variety of issues.

Office of Great Lakes Director Jon AllenJon Allan, Director, DEQ's Office of the Great Lakes

Jon Allan comes to the Office of the Great Lakes with a strong background in fisheries, wildlife and the aquatic sciences. With several decades of experience in environmental policy and law, he has taught courses in biology, ecology, environmental impact assessment and marine biology and island ecology at Michigan State University and other institutions. His research on wetlands, stream ecology, impact assessment and water policy has been published in journals in Canada and the U.S. Time and again, organizations and individuals have called on Director Allan to participate in and lead environmental planning in Michigan and the Great Lakes region.

He served as advisor to the Great Lakes Compact negotiations, co-chaired Michigan's Groundwater Conservation Advisory Council and the Water Resources Advisory Council tasked with formulating the state's implementation of the Great Lakes Compact Agreement. He also served as chair of the Michigan Chamber of Commerce's Environmental Quality Committee.

MDOT Director Kirk SteudleKirk Steudle, Director, Michigan Department of Transportation

Kirk T. Steudle began his career with the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) in 1987 as an engineer trainee. A registered professional engineer, he rose through the ranks of the department to his current position. He was appointed State Transportation Director by Governor Rick Snyder on Jan. 1, 2011. He also served as State Transportation Director from 2006 to 2010. In the past, Steudle has served as MDOT’s Chief Deputy Director, Bay Region Engineer, and Deputy Region Engineer for the Metro Detroit Region. He also was president of the 2009 Mississippi Valley Conference.

He is a graduate of Adrian High School and Lawrence Technological University, where he earned a bachelor of science degree in construction engineering. He also served on the Essexville City Council from 1995 to 1999.

Krisite Kibbey Etue - MSPCol. Kriste Kibbey Etue, Director, Michigan State Police

Col. Kriste Kibbey Etue was appointed Director of the Michigan State Police in January 2011 by Governor Rick Snyder.  Col. Etue is the 18th director in the 97-year history of the department and the department’s first female director.

During her 27-year tenure with the Michigan State Police, Col. Etue has held several executive positions focusing on emergency management and homeland security, budgeting, facility management, training, human resources, and public affairs. 

Today, Col. Etue serves as State Director of Emergency Management and Homeland Security.  She also chairs the Michigan Homeland Protection Board, Michigan Public Safety Interoperability Board, Auto Theft Prevention Authority, Michigan Intelligence Operations Center Advisory Board and the Organized Retail Crime Advisory Board.
