Water Quality Monitoring
The DEQ has several water quality monitoring programs that assist in keeping all of Michigan's water clean.
The Michigan public beaches and recreational-use waterways program contains information about beach closings, monitoring efforts and E. coli test results. Data located on this site is entered and maintained by local health department offices.
The DEQ, in partnership with the Michigan Lake and Stream Associations, Inc. (MLSA), developed the Cooperative Lakes Monitoring Program (CLMP) as a cost-effective method for citizens to monitor water quality and to document changes in lake quality over time.
