  • Panel discussion with credit union industry leaders as they shared best practices related to the importance of succession planning, the process of getting started, and the importance of diversity, equity, and inclusion when hiring management and bringing on new board members.

  • CEOs who have been through the succession of past board members/CEOs shared their lessons learned and best practices for succession planning.

Is the Credit Union Board Prepared for the CEO to Leave?

  • Succession planning has taken on more importance recently with nearly half of all credit union CEOs planning to retire in the next ten years and about one quarter of them in the next five years. A good succession plan charts action for the board and employees for a variety of situations including the death of a CEO, accidents, disability, termination or retirement.
