Department of Insurance and Financial Services Takes Action Against Richard R. Creed, Evergreen Insurance Agency, Inc. Auburn, Michigan
For Immediate Release - January 13, 2016
(LANSING) The Michigan Department of Insurance and Financial Services (DIFS) today has ordered a Summary Suspension and Notice of Intent to Revoke the insurance producer license of Richard R. Creed and Evergreen Insurance Agency in Auburn. DIFS Investigators found violations of numerous provisions of the Michigan Insurance Code (the Code), including the selling of fraudulent insurance policies to Michigan consumers.
“Michigan consumers trusted that this man was selling them legitimate insurance policies when in fact he was taking advantage of them,” said DIFS Director Patrick McPharlin. “This was putting consumers at financial risk in the event of a loss since there was no coverage in place.”
The Summary Suspension and Intent to Revoke stem from a complaint DIFS received earlier this month. After investigating the complaint, DIFS substantiated Creed produced a fraudulent certificate of insurance. The latest violation of The Code shows Creed has little intent to comply with the prior orders and/or The Code.
“We remain focused on continuing our efforts to provide regulatory oversight of the insurance and financial services industries. We ensure that the businesses within these industries are safe, sound, and entitled to the public's confidence,” added McPharlin. “I would urge customers of Creed and/or Evergreen Insurance Agency, Inc. to verify their coverage right away.”
DIFS is working with Michigan State Police to review Creed’s business conduct and identify additional victims. If you are a customer of Creed and/or Evergreen Insurance Agency, Inc. and feel you may be a victim, please contact the Michigan State Police Tri-City Post at 989-495-5555 or DIFS at 877-999-6442.
