Chief Master Sergeant David Eddy

Chief Master Sergeant David V. Eddy is Command Chief Master Sergeant of the Michigan Air National Guard. As Command Chief, he is responsible for advising the Adjutant General, Commander of the Michigan Air National Guard, staff and other key leaders on mission effectiveness, professional development, military readiness, training, utilization, health, morale, and welfare of the state’s approximately 2300 enlisted Airmen.

Chief Eddy enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1986 and served as a security policeman, including assignments as entry controller, weapons armorer, M60 machine-gunner, and fire team leader. He left active duty in 1990 to pursue a career in civilian law enforcement. Chief Eddy joined the Michigan Air National Guard in 1991, where he continued broadening his experience in air base defense planning and operations while assigned to security forces as a squad leader, trainer, quality control NCOIC, and First Sergeant. He went on to serve as Human Resource Advisor and in other key staff and leadership positions at the wing, group, and state levels, including as group superintendent deployed to Baghdad, Iraq in support of Operations IRAQI FREEDOM & NEW DAWN. He has served as a class mentor for the USAF Chief Leadership Course at Maxwell AFB, AL and he is currently the director of the ANG Chief Master Sergeant’s Executive (orientation) Course held at Joint Base Andrews, MD. Chief Eddy has worked as a civilian law enforcement officer in Texas and in Michigan at the local, county and state levels, and has served with the Michigan State Police for over 22 years as a trooper and detective sergeant. During that time, he also performed duties as a defensive tactics instructor, field training officer, recruit school instructor, violent crimes investigator, and as a member of the Governor’s Security Detail. He currently serves on the National Advisory Board for the FBI Violent Criminal Apprehension Program, and he is an instructor for the International Association of Chiefs of Police ‘Leadership in Police Organizations’ course. He is currently assigned to the Special Operations Division within the Michigan State Police.
