Snowy Lantern-lit Trail through the woods

Meet at the Heritage Nature Trail behind the Carl T. Johnson Hunting and Fishing Center.

This winter enjoy a lantern-lit snowshoe hike along a portion of the Heritage Nature Trail. The short hike, about 1 mile, will have a campfire warming station and hot coco. Participants are welcome to bring their own snowshoes or the park will have a limited number of snowshoes available first come, first served. Last hikers should go out no later than 8 p.m. allowing everyone enough time to enjoy the trail before lanterns are extinguished at 9 p.m. No reservations are required. Participants should dress appropriately for weather conditions. In the chance of server weather or poor travel conditions, the event may be canceled. For questions or cancellation information, please call the park at 231-775-7911.

A Recreation Passport is required for vehicle entry into Michigan state parks. To make a camping reservation, visit or call 1-800-447-2757.

Please Note: Dates occasionally change and events may be canceled due to inclement weather and other reasons. Please call the park to confirm dates/times prior to your arrival.
