Apply for Acceptance into the Program and...
Here are the steps to take once you have determined you are interested in pursuing the Salmon in the Classroom Program for your school. Due to the popularity of this program, a limited number of new classrooms are allowed to participate each year. Detailed information is housed on the main web page and will be emailed to teacher's directly AFTER they've been accepted into the program. The following are just the basic necessities needed to get started:
- Fill out and submit the Salmon in the Classroom Admittance Request Form. The application period will open for the 2018-19 school year from January 1, 2018 to April 15, 2018. The program is for 3rd grade classrooms and higher. Email notifications will be sent to all applicants by June 1, 2018. If accepted, you will be given directions for future steps, or may read the "I've been accepted, now what" section of this website.
- After acceptance into the program you'll be sent the dates of the mandatory November workshop via email, and will register for one day.
- After acceptance in the program you will apply for a Scientific Collector's permit, which will be hand delivered to you at your workshop, as will your eggs.
- Be sure to purchase equipment before the beginning of the school year. Local groups may be willing to act as your sponsor, and fund your equipment. You are encouraged to include sponsor names on your Admittance Request. Tanks must be up and running at about 47 degrees F for 3 weeks before egg pick-up.
