The Workshop (only for teachers ALREADY accepted into the program.)

Workshops are offered in 3 locations each year in November. At the Wolf Lake State Fish Hatchery in Mattawan near Kalamazoo, at the Platte River State Fish Hatchery in Beulah, and at the Marquette State Fish Hatchery in the UP.

Teachers accepted into the program for the first time MUST attend a workshop to obtain their permit, which gives them legal permission to carry the Chinook salmon eggs and to raise them until release in May the following spring.

Volunteer helper, principals and sponsors are also welcome to attend. Teachers accepted into the program will be sent the dates and times of the mandatory workshop, and will sign up through email--and include any guests they are bringing on the registration. Students are not allowed to attend the workshops--they discourage the adults from asking questions.
