Big Sable Point Lighthouse as seen at Ludington State Park

The historic Big Sable Point lighthouse is located north of the main park entrance and can typically only be accessed by walking or biking the two-mile gravel path to the lighthouse. Multiple times each season, the Sable Points Lighthouse Keepers Association provides buses to take visitors to the lighthouse. Wheelchair accessible buses will pick up visitors at the resident keepers’ house adjacent to the park office and transport visitors out to the lighthouse and back. While at the lighthouse, visitors can tour the lighthouse, climb the tower and visit the gift shop. Buses run between 12 PM and 5 PM. Round trip transportation is $5 for adults and $2 for children under 12. One-way tickets can be purchased for $3 for adults and $1 for children. Cash, checks and major credit cards are accepted. Children must be at least one meter tall to climb the tower and must be able to climb the tower on their own. An additional fee is required to climb the tower. For more information, please contact the Sable Point Lighthouse Keepers Association.
