A hidden gem, Rockport State Recreation Area is one of Michigan's best and most diverse parks! As Michigan's 100th state park, the Friends of Rockport and Besser Natural Area felt that they needed to do something special to celebrate the parks system's centennial year. The event will include a Meteors and S'mores Dark Sky program on the evening of Friday, Aug. 2. On Saturday morning, Aug. 3, there will be a live birds of prey Hawk Hill Raptor program and sinkhole tours. The afternoon will feature a fossil hunt with Paleo Joe and a DNR Recreation 101 Archery program. There will be displays relating to the park history, ecosystem and what you can see and do at the park. At 3 p.m. we will be announcing the winner of the 2019 Bennington Pontoon Boat Raffle!  Raffle tickets are currently available for purchase at $100 each with a maximum of 500 tickets to be sold. Details on the event can be found on the Friends of Rockport Facebook page or by emailing friendsofrockport@hotmail.com

A Recreation Passport is required for vehicle entry into Michigan state parks. No camping is available at this facility.

Please Note: Dates occasionally change and events may be canceled due to inclement weather and other reasons. Please call the park to confirm dates/times prior to your arrival.
