The Chief Noonday Chapter of the North Country Trail Association (NCTA) will be celebrating the new year with a First Day Hike on the North Country Trail at Yankee Springs Recreation Area. There will be two hikes, a shorter 2-mile and a longer 4-mile option. NCTA members in attendance can earn their first miles for the North Country Trail 2020 "Hike 100 Challenge". Refreshments will be for sale at the event (cash only). Participants are encouraged to bring water and snacks, dress for the weather and wear hiking boots/shoes. Treking poles and/or ice trakers for your boots are recommended. No event fee, no reservations and no cancellations. Meet at the Long Lake Outdoor Center located at 10370 Gun Lake Road in Middleville.
