Volunteers helping park staff set-up snow fence

Fall Volunteer Day generally occurs on the first saturday of October. The tradition of Fall Volunteer Day sees volunteers performing tasks like snow fence set-up, take-down of benches, grills and tables throughout the park, table painting, litter pick-up and fire pit cleaning. Volunteer day is a great opportunity for people make new friends and get the park ready for the winter.

Volunteers who work from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. will be allowed to camp for free for the weekend. Camping is not a requirement to volunteer, all are welcome. Minors will need to be accompanied by a guardian as the signing of a liability waiver is a condition of participation. People should dress in clothing appropriate for the weather. Often times we will work during mist and sprinkles but during a true rain out we continue activities the next day. Reservations can be made for camping that weekend for campers who really want their favorite site. A refund will be processed at the time of check in. Reservations are not necessary as the park is not at risk to fill during the time period. For more information, please call the park.

A Recreation Passport is required for vehicle entry into Michigan state parks. To make a camping reservation, visit or call 1-800-447-2757.

Please Note: Dates occasionally change and events may be canceled due to inclement weather and other reasons. Please call the park to confirm dates/times prior to your arrival.
