From Flint, take I-75 south to Dixie Hwy south, turn left on McGinnis Road toward Holly State Park. Instead of turning left into the state park, turn right down the dirt road. Take the first right turn and follow the signs to the boat launch and find a parking space. If you bring a boat, no gasoline powered engines are allowed. Only electric trolling motors and oars may be used for propulsion. If on foot, I suggest fishing anywhere along the west side of the lake. Bring a chair to sit on. The fishing pier fills up quick. I am a basic worm under a bobber guy and have always caught fish there fishing five to 10 feet deep. There is also a very nice bathing beach at this lake which you will see from this fishing area. It has showers, bath/changing rooms, snack bar/bait shop and boat rentals.
