Deer Lake Basin has earned a reputation as a fishery that hosts high catch rates of walleye and northern pike. This lake is comprised of two elongated basins that provide more than 900 acres of quality fishing. Boat fishing is best here and shore fishing is allowed, although it is prohibited along the county road shoulder along the lake edge. Driving Directions From Marquette travel west on Highway US-41 approximately 13 miles to the city of Ishpeming and proceed on US-41 to the traffic light intersection of US-41 and County Road 573/Deer Lake Road (the National Ski Hall of Fame will be on your left corner). Turn right (north) on CR 573 and travel approximately 3.6 miles until you arrive at the DNR public boat launch.
