Partners in Lake Sturgeon Restoration Efforts

The lake sturgeon is on Michigan's Threatened Species list, and much work is being done to restore the state's lake sturgeon population. This work includes rearing and stocking and habitat efforts - all of which couldn't be done without the support of various partners.

Many partners work to secure funding and resources to help make restoration possible. They include:

  • Black Lake, Kalamazoo River, and St. Clair-Detroit River chapters of Sturgeon For Tomorrow
  • Fox River Green Bay Natural Resource Trustee Council
  • Keweenaw Bay Indian Community
  • Little River Band of Ottawa Indians, the Little Traverse Bay Band of Odawa Indians
  • Match-E-Be-Nash-She-Wish Band of Pottawatomi Indians (Gun Lake Tribe)
  • Michigan Sea Grant
  • Michigan State University
  • Tower-Kleber Limited Partnership
  • U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service
  • U.S. Forest Service
