Two popular winter programs held only weeks apart have decided to consolidate in 2021. The DNR’s Nature Center Summit and MAEOE’s Wildlife Weekend will be held Feb. 5-7, 2021, at the Ralph A. MacMullen Conference Center in Roscommon.
The Summit is a day-long workshop meant to inform educators from Michigan nature centers, zoos, conservation districts, and universities about the latest science and policies governing resource management. Experts in the field bring their knowledge of topline issues to valuable participants who, in turn, educate thousands of students and citizens at their venues. The Nature Center Summit is supported by the National Association of Interpretation – Region 5, the Association of Nature Center Administrators – Michigan Region and the Michigan Alliance for Environmental and Outdoor Education (MAEOE).
The Wildlife Weekend is a three-day retreat meant to educate citizens about environmental, nature or outdoor recreation themes. A mixture of learning and relaxation create a popular atmosphere for the participant to become much more knowledgeable about a nature topic or confident in an outdoor skill. The Wildlife Weekend is more “class oriented” and offered by MAEOE in an effort to advance their mission of creating an environmentally literate citizenry.
The new format will offer participants the opportunity to register for the Nature Center Summit, the Wildlife Weekend or both! Information on the program will become available this summer. Save the Date!
