Looking for a fall job within Michigan's great outdoors?

The Wildlife Division hires more than 100 seasonal employees during the fall season to work at various locations throughout the state, including state field offices, DNR customer service centers, DNR wildlife disease lab, and state game areas.

All fall positions will be posted on GovernmentJobs.com/Careers/Michigan. For most positions you must be 18 or older, be willing to work weekends and evenings, and be required to pass a pre-employment drug test.

Chronic wasting disease surveillance

Non-career wildlife assistant positions (paid $17.06/hour, may work up to 719 hours per year)

  • Posting: July 1-21
  • Employment dates: Sept. 1 - Jan. 31
  • Examples of duties: Assist with collection of deer heads for CWD surveillance and assist at deer check stations.

Chronic wasting disease and Bovine Tuberculosis testing

Non-career laboratory assistant positions (paid $15.14/hour, may work up to 719 hours per year)

  • Posting: July 1-15
  • Employment dates: October – January (specific dates to be determined after hire)
  • Examples of duties: Assist with activities for CWD and bTB testing at the DNR wildlife disease lab. Examine deer, elk and moose, perform data entry and prepare samples for diagnostic tests.

Waterfowl/deer check and general duties

Non-career wildlife assistant positions (paid $17.06/hour, may work up to 719 hours per year) and state worker 4 positions (paid minimum $10.20/hour, may work up to 1,040 hours per year)

  • Posting: Aug. 1-18
  • Employment dates: Oct. 1-Jan. 31
  • Examples of duties: Assist with waterfowl draws, sell use permits, post hunt areas and maintain pump and water control operations. Assist hunters at DNR deer check stations.
