Public input is an important part of the park general management planning process. Opportunities to provide feedback on in-progress park management plans will be announced on this page when there is a public comment period or open house occurring. You can also view view in-progress and completed park management plans here.
Mapping and inventorying state forest roads is an ongoing effort, with reviews being completed on the ground by DNR staff as well as an in-depth review of public comments each year:

We want you to be involved in state forest planning - also known as our compartment review process. Our plans for the forest include harvesting timber, planting trees, prescribed burning and maintaining fields and open areas – activities that help to provide wildlife habitat, control invasive species and improve the overall health of the forest.
In March 2018, the United States Gypsum Company (USG) submitted a Land Transaction Application to purchase 580 acres of land and minerals in Alabaster Township in Iosco County, Michigan. USG has proposed the transaction in order to support its existing gypsum quarry operation on adjacent land in southeastern Iosco County. The proposal currently is under review by DNR staff.
