Michigan Department of Natural Resources conservation officers that patrol Detroit and the surrounding counties hosted their first “Stuff a Truck.” Conservation officers collected toys at the annual Holiday Stroll event, Dec. 13 on Belle Isle.
All of the toys were donated to the Detroit Sgt. Santa program – an annual holiday program sponsored by WWJ Newsradio 950 and the Detroit Police Department. Conservation officers joined the Detroit Police Department on Wednesday to personally deliver the toys to 50 families – twice the amount of families that received toys in 2018.
“It was an honor to be a part of this program and to help spread some holiday cheer to local families,” said Lt. Todd Szyska. “We want to thank the community for their generosity and donating so many toys to help make a difference for families in Detroit.”
Michigan conservation officers are fully commissioned state peace officers who provide natural resources protection, ensure recreational safety and protect citizens by providing general law enforcement duties and lifesaving operations in the communities they serve. Conservation officers patrol Belle Isle to ensure the public’s safety and enjoyment of the island.
