The following news release was issued earlier today by the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.

LANSING – In accordance with Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services’ recommendations designed to help slow the spread of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19), the Michigan departments of Agriculture and Rural Development; Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy; and Natural Resources today extended the public comment period for the draft Lake Erie Adaptive Management Plan until June 19.
The goal is to ensure that residents who are interested have ample opportunity to offer their views on the draft plan, including at a public information meeting in early June. All previous comment period deadlines should be ignored.
The adaptive management plan—a companion document to the 2018 Michigan Lake Erie Domestic Action Plan—describes the status of water quality in Michigan’s portion of the Lake Erie Basin and includes a list of planning and implementation actions the state will take to achieve nutrient reduction targets set through the binational Great Lakes Water Quality Agreement, Annex 4 Subcommittee process.
