    Snowmobile reports are hosted by a number of third parties and provide helpful information on trail conditions.

  • Trail updates for the Keweenaw Peninsula

    Severe damage occurred over Houghton County trails in June/July 2018 when major storms struck Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. The damage forced numerous trail closures. The DNR and partnering agencies have worked to reopen several trail segments, although a few ORV trails are still impacted.Users are encouraged to visit the Interactive ORV Route & Trail Maps for details of affected trails. Overall, ORV trail connectivity remains open between Houghton and Copper Harbor. (updated 4/23/19)

  • DNR Echo Point shooting range to close April 10-Aug. 31 for renovations and improvements

    After years of planning, site evaluation and opportunities for community input, the DNR is moving forward with construction on improvements at the Echo Point shooting range at Allegan State Game Area in Allegan County. The site will be closed to public use and entry for the duration of construction, April 10 through Aug. 31.   • DNR announces bridge closure in Alger County

    A bridge over Werner’s Creek, southwest of Trenary, has been deemed unsafe for vehicle traffic of any kind. The bridge is located about a mile north of the Alger-Delta county line, along Deadhorse Creek Road, roughly 4 miles west of U.S. Highway 41. (updated 11/13/18)

  • Copper Harbor Lighthouse tours unavailable

    The boat tour from Copper Harbor State Marina to the Copper Harbor Lighthouse is closed due to the absence of a contractor. The Copper Harbor lighthouse is located on state park land; however, the area between Fort Wilkins Historic State Park and the lighthouse is situated on private land and passage between the two is NOT allowed.
