Join outdoor enthusiasts Jill and Aaron Grenchik as they instruct you on how to identify a variety of Michigan's edible wild mushrooms and share some tips on where to start looking. In addition, you will learn about proper handling techniques for transport, cleaning, consumption (including some sampling) and home preservation.

The cost for this class is $40 and will include lunch.

Participation is limited to 40 students.

To register for this class, go to Michigan.gov/DNRLicenses and click on the "Purchase a license" button. Sign in (using either a username and password or your ID and birthdate), and find the class under the Outdoor Skills Academy tab.

A Recreation Passport is required for entry into Mitchell State Park.

Please note cancellation policy:

  • Cancellations made any time after processing the reservation until the close of business two weeks prior to your scheduled arrival date will incur a 50% cancellation fee. If you cancel after the two-week deadline, no refund will be issued. Students are entitled to any of the materials purchased for the class after the two-week deadline, except materials that have a shelf life.
     
  • To receive a refund you must email ShawE@Michigan.gov with the following in the subject line: "Refund [class name]." A phone call or voice message left will not be considered notification. You must email ShawE@Michigan.gov.
