A lantern lit ½ mile trail through the wooded sand dunes and over the Big Sable River culminates at the Park Amphitheater where a campfire greets participants with a free cup of hot cocoa and marshmallows to roast or put into the hot cocoa. Park Staff and the volunteers from the volunteers of the Friends of Ludington State Park will greet you and help you throughout your walk. Dress warm for outdoor winter conditions. Participants are encouraged but not required to bring their snowshoes or cross country skies.

The hike may be canceled in the event of severe or icy weather conditions. Cancellation notices are made by 3 p.m. and are added to the Friends of Ludington State Park Facebook, web page, and the park’s phone message service.

This event is free. No reservations are required.

A Recreation Passport is required for vehicle entry into Michigan state parks. To make a camping reservation, visit MIDNRReservations.com or call 1-800-447-2757.
