Wolf Lake Fish Hatchery Visitor Center - Birding Basics
Are you new to watching birds and want to learn more? Birding is easy to do with a little knowledge. Learn identification techniques, behavioral clues, foraging styles and habitat types. We will also introduce you to birding tools such as binoculars and to free birding resources and apps, explore ways you can get involved in community science projects such as the Backyard Bird Count, and cover birding etiquette and ethics.
This class is taught by interpretive naturalists Shana Ramsey from the Wolf Lake Fish Hatchery Visitor Center and Elizabeth Tillman from the Gillette Sand Dune Visitor Center in P.J. Hoffmaster State Park.
Cost is $25. Each participant will receive a bird field guide and will be entered into a drawing for a grand prize.
To register for this class, go to Michigan.gov/DNRLicenses and click on the "Purchase a license" button. Sign in (using either a username and password or your ID and birthdate), and find the class under the Outdoor Skills Academy tab.
Please note: Cancellations must be made by Jan. 31 to guarantee a full refund.
