Saturday, March 1 and Sunday, March 2
9 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days (or until you finish lacing your snowshoes)
Instructors will teach participants, step by step, how to lace the Ojibwe-style, wooden-framed snowshoes (11 x 54 inches). Tubular nylon will be used for the lacing. The snowshoe kit comes with a set of “Super A” bindings. Participants will have to varnish their snowshoes with a spar urethane/marine varnish at a later time, preferably in a well-ventilated location.
There will be a lunch break at noon, and participants may either bring their own food or go into downtown Grayling to buy lunch.
Cost for the class is $190.
To register for this class, go to Michigan.gov/DNRLicenses and click on the "Purchase a license" button. Sign in (using either a username and password or your ID and birthdate), and find the class under the Outdoor Skills Academy tab. Make sure you choose “2025 Snowshoe Building Workshop, 3/1-2, Grayling."
Please note: Cancellations must be made no later than Feb. 21.
