Don't shoot a swan!
Don't make a mistake!
All wild swans are protected in Michigan.
The native trumpeter swan has been reintroduced to wetlands in the Lower Peninsula and the eastern Upper Peninsula of Michigan. You can help this magnificent swan by:
- Learning the difference between swans and snow geese.
- Reporting observations of marked swans with wing tags, neck collars, or legbands.
- Reporting any harassment of trumpeter swans.
- Reporting any trumpeter swan nesting sites.
