Brom Stibitz was appointed the chief deputy director for the Michigan Department of Technology, Management & Budget (DTMB) in 2015. He serves as the head of operations for the agency of 2,700 employees, providing information technology, business and administrative services to Michigan's residents, businesses, state agencies, state employees and retirees.
Prior to his current role, Mr. Stibitz served as the director of executive operations for the Michigan Department of Treasury where he oversaw a diverse portfolio of activities including tax processing, call centers, audits, centralized collections for the state, state banking activities, and building and facilities operations. During his tenure at Treasury he led major initiatives involving employee and customer engagement activities.
Before beginning his career in the executive branch, Brom worked for the Michigan legislature as the legislative director for the speaker of the house. In this role, he advised the speaker and caucus on all budget and policy matters, coordinated weekly house agendas, and managed floor activities.
Stibitz is a graduate of Kalamazoo College, earning a bachelor’s of arts degree in biology, and Northern Michigan University, where he earned his master’s degree in public administration. He and his wife, Youngsook, have three children.
