EGLE awards energy efficiency rebate to three Upper Peninsula small manufacturers

The Michigan Energy Office (MEO), which is now part of the new Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE), has awarded rebates to three small manufacturers in the Upper Peninsula as part of its Small Manufacturers Energy Waste Reduction Incentive Pilot program.

“The rebates awarded – which were matched by the companies – will help these small manufacturers cut their energy use and lower their costs, making them more competitive,” said Robert Jackson, director of the MEO.

To date, six rebates totaling $50,500 have been awarded under the Small Manufacturers Energy Waste Reduction Incentive Program, which is now available to small manufacturers statewide through July 31. Contact David Herb with any questions at HerbD@Michigan.gov.

More than half of EGLE’s budget each year flows into Michigan communities in the form of grants, loans and other spending that supports local projects that protect public health and the environment, while spurring economic growth and creating jobs for Michigan workers in the process.
