The Michigan Department of Environmental Quality's (DEQ) Brownfield Redevelopment Program is offering three late winter workshops targeted to consultants and anyone who creates proposals, work plans, and reports for brownfield redevelopment grants and loans and Act 381.  Brownfield program staff will cover advanced brownfield grant, loan, and Act 381 topics like eligibility, process, timing, forms, and other details of project management. Our goal is to effectively partner with consultants to protect public health and the environment, revitalize brownfield sites, and help you provide great service to your clients.

Topics to be Covered

  • Who does what on the project team
  • Layering and coordinating multiple funding sources
  • New brownfield grant opportunities
  • Getting grant and loan projects and work plans approved
  • Getting Act 381 work plans and TIF tables approved (with MEDC and DEQ staff)
  • Reporting and invoicing

For consultants new to the brownfield program, a Brownfields 101 short session will be held  from 11:00 am to noon the morning of the Grand Haven workshop. Consultants with less experience in brownfield redevelopment will learn the basics and have the opportunity to talk with DEQ staff before the more complex afternoon workshop.

Refreshments will not be served at these workshops (this allows us to provide the workshops at no cost).  The venues will allow you to bring your own beverage.  Due to splace limitations, pre-registration is required.
