Watershed Council Support RFP FY 2021 Information

The Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) announces a new funding source for watershed-based organizations.  Six hundred thousand dollars ($600,000) is available through this Request For Proposals (RFP) to support the general organizational administration needs as well as conservation and educational activities. Individual grants are capped at $40,000 each and there is a maximum timeframe of one year.

The RFP document as well as all required forms and instructions are included as links below. Proposals are due on or before 4:00 p.m. Thursday, February 18, 2021 and must be submitted via email to EGLE-NPSgrants@Michigan.gov . Selected projects will be awarded funding in the spring of 2021.

A webinar was held to explain the FY21 Watershed Council Support Program funding. EGLE Nonpoint Source (NPS) staff explained this new State funded program to support Watershed Councils and other organizations that work to protect or enhance water quality. NPS staff discussed eligible applicants, the grant application schedule, program priorities, eligibility criteria, application requirements, tips for successful applications, and also answered questions. Eligible applicants include Watershed Councils and Watershed Alliances established under State law as well as other local units of government, tribal entities, colleges, universities, and entities with 501(c)(3) status working to improve water quality on a watershed basis.
