EGLE offers a free financial assessment of a municipality's water system for those communities with populations of 10,000 or less. The financial assessment involves:
- A review of the existing revenue system and financial and legal documents.
- Recommendations on how to improve the water system's financial and legal structure.
- Discussion of asset management tools.
- Follow-up involving a meeting with town council members to answer their questions.
All recommendations provided during the financial assessment are exactly that - recommendations, which are voluntary and non-binding.
