Reporting Agricultural Air Quality Concerns

The most common air quality concern related to agriculture is odor. Odors associated with farm operations are not considered air pollution if the farm operation is following Generally Accepted Agriculture Management Practices (GAAMP). The Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (MDARD) is responsible for determining conformance with GAAMPs. In accordance with a Memorandum of Understanding, the Air Quality Division often works with the MDARD in resolving odor issues with farm operations.
