Amy Epkey
Senior Deputy Director
Her work ensures that the agency’s budget effectively advances EGLE’s mission to protect Michigan’s environment and public health, and to help local communities do the same with more than $250 million in grant dollars EGLE distributes annually.
Before starting with the department in 2013, Amy worked for the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development. She started her career in an entry financial position and worked her way up to serving as a policy advisor to both the director and the department’s budget officer.
With more than 20 years of state government experience, Amy has extensive expertise in government finances and operations, stakeholder relations, and developing and leading successful teams. She has testified before numerous legislative committees and has been involved in the successful passage and implementation of various statutes.
Amy is a Grand Valley State University graduate who values family and community. She lives in Fowler with her husband and their five children and currently chairs the Fowler Public Schools Education Foundation, which focuses on providing long-term financial support to the school and community. She enjoys running, biking, and camping in her free time.
