Oil, Gas, and Minerals Division Director
As director, Adam helps further the division’s mission to ensure that Michigan’s oil, gas, and mineral resources are developed in accordance with all laws and regulations; and to protect the state’s natural resources and the health, safety, and welfare of the public.
Adam participates in various stakeholder engagement groups relating to environmental regulations and policy. He represents Michigan on the Environmental Council of the States Shale Gas Caucus and serves on the national Ground Water Protection Council’s risk-based data management systems steering committee working to improve oil, gas, and injection data management and availability.
He is Michigan’s official representative on the Interstate Oil and Gas Compact Commission (IOGCC), where he also serves on the steering committee; IOGCC/Environmental Protection Agency Task Force; Exchange, Environment and Safety Committee, which he chaired from 2018-20; and Energy Resources, Research and Technology Committee.
He is a graduate of Grand Valley State University, with a Bachelor of Science degree in geology, and attended graduate school at Bowling Green State University in Ohio.
A fan of most outdoor activities, Adam particularly enjoys caving and rock collecting.
