MDEQ and MDHHS release video on vapor intrusion for homeowners
March 27, 2019
The Michigan Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ) and Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) have released a new video to help homeowners learn more about vapor intrusion. The video details both potential causes, as well as the actions to take if a homeowner suspects that vapor intrusion issues exist.
Unresolved chemicals spills are cited in the video as a potential cause of vapor intrusion. Vapors from lingering chemicals can spread through the ground and enter a home through cracks in the foundation or through a sump system. To identify vapor intrusion problems, testing is required on the property where the issue is suspected.
