2020 By the Numbers: 5,700 air quality inspections
January 29, 2021
EGLE ensures that Michigan's air remains clean by regulating sources of air pollutants to minimize adverse impact on human health and the environment.
EGLE's Air Quality Division's goals are to meet and maintain air quality standards and limit emissions of hazardous and toxic pollutants.
Last year, staff performed approximately 5,700 inspections, including 2,613 onsite complaint investigations, 2,154 asbestos inspections and 840 compliance verifications.
Staff also received more than 41,000 notifications of demolition or renovation work through the National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants program.
The division posts annual reports each March detailing its permitting, enforcement action and emission reporting activities.
