MI Environment marks second anniversary
March 04, 2021
MI Environment, the online publication of the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy today marks its second anniversary.
In that time, the publication has highlighted the work of EGLE staff to protect the environment and public health in 311 stories. Over 9,500 people now subscribe to the publication's weekly digest. That's an increase of over 4,500 subscribers over the previous year.
"MI Environment continues to highlight the good work that EGLE staffers do on behalf of all Michiganders,” said Hugh McDiarmid, EGLE communications manager. "From serious subjects to light-hearted topics, MI Environment stories are must-reading for the public and media alike."
In 2020, the top three most-read stories were:
- Shoreline-mapping EGLE drone sent to watery Lake Michigan grave by U.P. bald eagle
- Marquette homeowner praises EGLE's swift action to minimize damage from high water levels
- Historic WWJ building is the latest historic landmark to be redeveloped with EGLE help
