February 01, 2022
February is Canned Food Month putting a focus on the metal containers for the shelf-stable food.
Turns out food cans are the most recycled packaging in the United States, proving that canned foods can be very environmentally friendly.
Recycling Raccoon Precious Metale is EGLE's resident expert on recycling cans and offers the following tips:
- Check the rules for what recyclables are accepted in your local program.
- Rinse and empty cans before recycling.
- Cans and lids are usually accepted.
- Labels can be left on.
Check out Precious Metale's video and test your recycled metal knowledge by taking a quiz.
